Barraud, Cornhill, London No. 9110 (first series), made for the Chinese market, circa 1816.Very fine 18K gold and enamel pearl-set watch.

C. Three-body, Empire with fixed cuvette, reeded band, split-pearl set bezels pendant and bow, the back panel with dark blue translucent enamel over engine-turning (spiral pattern with ribbons of long and short waves, the short ones suggesting a basket-weave pattern), centered by a medallion with rosette gold paillons under clear translucent enamel with paillon ribbon borders. Spring-loaded back (with two springs) opened by a push-piece in the pendant. D. Off-white enamel with Roman numerals, threverse with painted number '9110', subsidiary seconds. Gold 'pear' hands. M. 23???, ruby cylinder escapement (the insert actually is of sapphire) driven by a going barrel in a hinged, full plate gilded movement with cylindrical pillars, brass four-arm balance, balance and steel escape wheel jeweled, both with ruby endstones, flat balance spring with regulator, gilded cock pierced and engraved with scrolled foliage. Gilded dust-cap, finely engraved with scrolled foliage.Signed on the back plate and numbered on the dial.Diam. 62 mm.
