Barraud, Cornhill, London No. 9035 (first series), made for the Chinese market, circa 1815.Very fine 18K gold and enamel pearl-set watch.
C. Three-body, Empire with fixed cuvette, reeded band, split-pearl set bezels pendant and bow, the back panel with fine summer flowers painted over sunburst engine-turning with opaque light blue enamel borders. Spring-loaded back (with two springs) opened by a push-piece in the pendant, inside back cover stamped with 'prestige' hallmarks. D. Off-white enamel with Roman numerals, the reverse with painted number '9035', subsidiary seconds. Gold 'spade' hands. M. 23???, full plate fire-gilded, rubycylinder escapement (the insert is actually sapphire) driven by a going barrel, cylindrical pillars, monometallic four-arm balance, balance and the steel escape wheel jeweled, both with ruby endstones, flat balance spring with regulator, gilded cock pierced and engraved with scrolled foliage.Signed on the back plate and numbered on the dial.Diam. 62 mm.
