Notes

Nitonwas founded in 1919 by Alfred Bourquin and Edouard Morel. They specialized in conceiving, creating, and designingwatches and movements. They made all sorts of calibers and sold directly to stores (to Gübelin for example) or to watchmanufacturers, providing either the movements or the completed watches (Chopard, Patek Philippe, etc.) Changingfashion and the 1930's economic crisis forced Niton to change. In 1940, they sold their rights to Ebauches SA., andwere finally bought by Carlo Sarzano in 1957. At that time they produced ordinary gold and metal plated watches. In1971, they became associated with Sarcar SA., also owned by Carlo Sarzano since 1948, and thus technically ceasedto exist.
