Lepine A Paris, No. 4321, dedicated on the dial: N.L.J. Terrien, premier Janvier, 1825. Very fine and extremely rare 18K gold, quarter-repeating 8-day going watch.

C. Four-body, by ?J.R.?, transition between ?Empire? and ?bassine et filets?, engine-turned, gilt hinged cuvette. D. White enamel, made by master dial maker Droz, Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued steel ?Breguet? hands. M. 54 mm (24???), frosted gilt, standing barrel, cylinder escapement, three-arm gold jeweled balance with flat balance spring, final version of Lepine?s repeating system, repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant.Signed on the cuvette, dial signed N.L.J. Terrien, P(remi)er Janvier, 1825.Diam. 60 mm.

This appears to be the only known 8-day going watch made by Lepine. Most likely it was made for a special order from Terrien. Lepine made watches on special request for many other watchmakers. However, it is rare to find two names, such as in this case. Terrien must have been a retailer with good
