Notes

In a wandering hour watch the hours jump at the window at every hour and the minutes are indicated by the position of the hour window against the minute divisions. Wandering hour watches first appeared in the 17th century. In the 1920s and 1930s, Breguet sold many of them with a system patented in about 1925 by Robert Cart. More recently, the idea has enjoyed a revival, being introduced into the wristwatch. 19th century wandering hour watches are rare.
