The Mandarin Duck Bovet, London, No. 831, made for the Chinese market circa 1830. Very fine 18K gold and painted on enamel pearl-set, special escapement, center-seconds watch, made for the Chinese market.

Two-body, ?Chinese?, No. 577, back cover depicting a finely painted on enamel Mandarin Duck, seating on a rocky outcrop, bezels set with half pearls and decorated in red and blue champlevé enamel, spring-loaded gold cuvette hinged tothe movement ring, pendant and bow decorated en suite.D. White enamel, radial Roman chapters, outer minute and quarter second divisions, fifteen minute/seconds Arabic numerals with fifteen-minute/seconds Arabic markers. Gold ?Spoon? hands. M. 47 mm (21???), gilt brass fully engraved ?Chinese?caliber, free-standing barrel, ruby duplex escapement with ruby rest insert and steel impulse pallet, plain steel three-arm balance with blued steel wedged weights, flat balance spring.Signed on the movement, case punched with Geneva mark and ?B? in lozenge. Diam. 58 mm.A very similar watch, with a nightingale, was in the Lord Sandberg Collection.
