God Save the King F. Nicole, Geneva, circa 1825 Very fine tortoiseshell and gold musical snuffbox playing three tunes
C. Three-body, reeded top with gold lifting lip, side panels and base plane, gold disc in the right side of the front panel for changing the tunes, one of which is God Save the King, to the left to activate the music, base with winding aperture. M. 82 x 47 mm, pinned cylinder type with a comb of 55 tuned vibrating blades, two-arm fly worm-gear governor, tune-changing mechanism allowing the three tunes to be selected via a slide button at the front of the case, through a lobed cam and detent system with star wheel.Signed on the comb in typical Nicole manner.Dim. 91 x 57 x 30 mm.
