Attributable to Piguet et Capt, No. 617, box by Georges Reymond, Geneva, circa 1810. Very fine and rare 18K gold and enamel oval musical snuffbox fitted with a watch. Accompanied by the original morocco fitted box.
C. Oval with three compartments, with center with hinged lid decorated with engine-turning and champlevé black enamel, the left with musical movement covered by semi-circular gold plate engraved with a lady playing the mandolin, the right with a watch, both with hinged lids engraved with sunburst rosette and geometrical champlevé pattern, base en suite. D. Small white enamel ring with Breguet numerals set to the left of semi-circular gold plate, to the right similar ring with subsidiary seconds, lower part with enameled regulating sector. Blued steel ?spearhead? hands. M. Semi-circular, 30 x 19 mm, going barrel, cylinder escapement, three-arm gilt balance with flat balance spring. Musical movement: semicircular, 29 x 19 mm, pinned barrel movement with a stack of 16 tuned vibrating blades of grasshopper shape, pinion governor in eccentric socket for tempo adjustment.Dim. 78 x 34 mm.
