Chevalier & Cie, Geneva, No. 7461 made for John Godwin, 161 Strand, (London), circa 1790. Very fine 18K gold and enamel pearl- and diamond-set quarter-repeating watch.
C. two-body, back in translucent imperial blue enamel over ?sunburst? engine-turning, center with diamond-set rosette, pearl-set bezels. D. White enamel, Arabic numerals, outer minute dot divisions, winding aperture at 2, Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 39 mm (18???), frosted gilt full-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock pierced and engraved with the letters ?CHEVALIER?, repeating on bell (replaced) by depressing the pendant.Signed on the movement by the retailer, on the cock by the maker.Diam. 50 mm.
