Georges Achard the son of François, born in Aouste Dauphiné, France. A Master watchmaker, he was in partnership with his brother Jean-François until 1796, making complicated enameled watches. The two brothers separated, and on April 15, 1796 Georges registered a company called Achard & Cie. Soon afterwards, the company became known as G. Achard et Fils. During this last period, they made automaton, repeating, skeletonized, or form watches. "Dictionnaire des Horlogers Genevois" by Osvaldo Patrizzi, Antiquorum Editions, Geneva, 1998.
