Notes

Georges Achard the son of François, born in Aouste Dauphiné, France. A Master watchmaker, he was in partnership with his brother Jean-François until 1796, making complicated enameled watches. The two brothers separated, and on April 15, 1796 Georges registered a company called Achard & Cie. Soon afterwards, the company became known as G. Achard et Fils.
