Swiss or French, circa 1780. Fine and rare steel fusee cutting engine. Head screw with crank lever moves the cutting tool bracket via pivoted steel lever, the amount of linear displacement is controlled by adjusting the arc of the pivoted lever by placing pegs in different peg holes, attachment for cutting hook slots, cutter holder with large thumb piece, set inclined on brass foot screwed to wooden base. Dim. 27 x 27 cm. In good condition, cleaned and varnished
