White enamel, eccentric radial Roman hour chapter at 12, central minutes with outer minute divisions and outermost chronograph track divided into fifths, subsidiary sunk seconds. M. 42 mm (19'''), frosted gilt 3/4-plate, going barrel, 19 jewels, lateral counterpoised lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring, Nicole Nielsen winding system.Dial and movement signed.Diam. 49 mm.

Notes

A regulator dial with a chronograph is very rare combination, especially in such an early period, some eleven years after the chronograph was invented. John Poole 1818-1867 established himself as a chronometer maker in 1840. He invented an auxiliary compensation which was very simple to make. He received a Gold Medal in Paris in 1867, the year he died. His brother James worked with him , taking over in 1867, and later moving to 33 Spencer St, Clerkenwell. J.U. Poole, James' son, continued the business.
