Geneva, probably Pierre Simon Gounouilhou, circa 1820. Very fine and extremely rare 18K gold octagonal pearl-set quarter-repeating ring watch with virgule escapement and visible, diamond-set balance.

Octagonal top housing the watch, screwed pearl-set bezel, fluted lowerpart of band, polished sliding panel at the bottom to reveal the winding andsetting holes, fluted shank which divides at the ends. D. Octagonal poly-chromeenamel plate decorated with champlevé laurel branches, in theupper part, an aperture for the balance spinning against a polished steelplate, in the lower part, eccentric white enamel dial with Arabic numerals andouter minute dot divisions. Blued-steel Breguet hands. M. 15.05 x 26 mm,brass, rectangular, fixed barrel, virgule escapement, brass escape wheel,plain diamond-set balance with four spiral arms, flat balance spring, quarterrepeater mounted on the back plate, activated by a slide at the edgeof the ring, striking on a bell mounted over the escapewheel bridge.Dim. Length 32 mm, width 22 mm.
