Andrew Dickie, London, No. 814, with London hallmarks for 1751-52. Extremely rare and very fine 22K gold pair-cased clockwatch striking hours and quarters with independent quarter-repeating, à tact option, and alarm.
C. Outer: two-body, bezels pierced and engraved with foliage. Inner: two-body, ?bassine?, back engraved with cornucopia, band pierced and engraved band in a floral pattern, mask at 6. D. Off-white enamel, radial Roman numerals, inner quarter-hour divisions, outer minute divisions with five-minute Arabic markers, center with revolving enamel alarm disc with radial Arabic numerals, aperture between IIII and V for setting the alarm. Blued steel ?beetle and poker? hands. M. 38 mm, hinged, frosted gilt full-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, steel balance with flat balance spring, balance jeweled with diamond endstone, single-footed cock, Stogden type repeating system, striking, repeating and alarm each with two hammers, single bell, repeating by depressing the pendant, à tact option by lever at 3, gilt brass dust cap.Movement and dust cap signed.Diam. 57 mm.
