David Playing the Harp Before King Saul William Crayton, London, No. 4008, hallmarked 1774-75. Very fine 22K gold triple-cased repoussé pocket watch, made for the Dutch market.
C. Outer: protective, two-body, tortoiseshell covered gilt brass, glazed on the back. MiddlEtwo-body, back repoussé in high relief with a scene depicting David playing the harp before King Saul, bezels in rocaille pattern, inner: two-body, ?bassine? with deep back, polished. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer arcaded minute division with five-minute Arabic figures. Gold ?Louis XV? hands. M. 33 mm, gilt brass full plate with square baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, Dutch-type cock.Signed on the movement.Diam. 52 mm.
