THE ESTIMATE FOR THIS LOT WAS CHANGED AT THE TIME OF THE AUCTION. ?Polo Players? Swiss, No. 84656, circa 1905. Very fine and rare 18K gold hunting-cased eight-day double-train minute-repeating watch with full calendar and phases of the moon.
C. Four-body, massive, "bassine", finely chased and engraved band, front cover chased and engraved with a sceneof two polo players in action, guilloché and foliate border with vacant cartouche, back cover chased and engravedwith a polo trophy of crossed mallets, horse?s head and horn, guilloché and foliate border, polished gold hingedcuvette with engraved inscription detailing the technical features of the watch. D. White enamel, radial Romannumerals, outer minute track, aperture below 12 with silvered day, date and month indications, subsidiary sunkseconds with moonphase aperture, gold spade hands, polished bezel with steel setting levers. M. 42 mm. (19???),frosted gilt brass, 32 jewels, tandem winding, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensationbalance, Breguet hairspring, repeating on gongs via activating slide in the band.Numbered on the case and cuvette.Diam. 56 mm.
