French, circa 1810. Fine and unusual 18K gold, burr-boxwood and tortoiseshell, snuff box with painted convertable scene.

The glazed ivory panel is painted with a scene depicting an old fat drowsy man and his pretty wife, after a good meal. Once the bezel is turned, the fat man is drowsing at the table while a cuckoo visits his nest. Diam. 92 mm.
