Mallot a Blois, French, circa 1630. Fine gilt brass and rock-crystal octogonal pre-balance spring watch with a contemporary movement.
C. Two body with gilt brass front frame, hinged to pierced and engraved mounting brackets with loose ring pendant and button finial. Octagonal faceted rock crystal cover and back. D. Hinged gilt brass dial plate chased with scrolled foliage, a laying nude lady at the top, a seated cherub below the applied silver champleve dial with Roman numerals and foliage decoration on border and centre. Later single blued steel hand. M. Hinged contemporary gilt brass full plate with turned urn pillars, short train with fusee an gut-line, verge escapement, plain steel two-arm balance without spring, irregular oval foliage pierced silver cock secured by a screw and worm-and-wheel set-up. Signed on the back plate. Dim. 56 x 32 mm.
