Manceau (?) a Lyon, French, circa 1610. Rare "crucifix" pre-balance spring watch movement in a contemporary style silver and rock-crystal case.
C. Three body, the gilt brass bezels engraved with hatched patterns, facetted rock-crystal back and cover, the silver band engraved with scrolled foliage, loosering pendant and button finials. D. Silver champleve with Roman hour numerals and half hour divisions. Single blued steel balluster pattern hand. M. Crucifix shaped gilt-brass full plate with turned urn pillars, fusee with gut-line, short train, verge escapement, plain two-arm steel balance without spring. Irregular oval florally pierced and engraved silver cock secured by a pin the gilt brass ratchet-wheel set-up cock with similar decoration. Signed on the back plate (partly rubbed). Dims. 62 x 35 mm.
