Tho. Chamberlain de Chelmsford, English, circa 1640. Very fine and rare silver pre-balance spring calendar watch in shagreen protecting case.
C. Double body, bassine with split bezel and loose ring pendant, polished, the back with winding hole shutter. Shagreen protecting case. D. Silver chapter ring with Roman numerals, inner pierced and engraved composition of spring flowers over a black ground, Arabic calendar ring on border of the bezel. Blued steel "tulip" single hand and pointer M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with early Egyptian pillars, three wheel short train, fusee with gut-line, verge escapement with steel two-arm balance without spring, worm-and-wheel set-up with pierced blued steel brackets and silver regulator disc, silver florally pierced and engraved cock secured by a screw. Signed on the back plate. Diam. 50 mm.
