C. Double body mahogany, rectangular with glazed lid. D. Silvered with Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "dauphines" hands. M. Transistor controlled electrically impulse, chronometer pattern Guillaume balance, free sprung blued steel helical balance spring. Signed on the dial and the movement. In very good condition. Dim. 17 x 13 x 9 cm.

The Chronostat III were tried for the first time with the new rules specially set out for battery powered chronometers. Eight Chronostats III were presented to the contest, six of them were successful and bought by the navy, two other were accepted although they were not fully successful and had to be adjusted by the maker.
