Johann Gottlieb Graupner, Dresden, No. 53, circa 1740. Fine silver pair cased, quarter striking and repeating coach watch with alarm.
C. Outer leather covered protecting case with silver roundel decoration. Inner double body "oignon " , the bezel pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage and chased with four small landscapes. The back pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage, and finely chased with a mythological scene with outer four figures of deities. D. Later custom made white enamel with Roman numerals. Gilt brass later arrow hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with twisted baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass English style cock with polished steel end-piece. Quarter striking and repeating train independent from the hour striking and repeating train and alarm train, all with gilt brass fixed barrels engraved with foliage, striking the quarters before the hours and alarm on a bell. Signed on the back plate. Diam. 111 mm.
