Notes

Although signed "Julien I.e Roy", this watch was made by his son Pierre after his death (the cock pierced and engraved "J.L.R." was used by Pierre Le Roy after the death of his father). The inscription : b eente par Julien Le Roy en 1740, refers to the invention so-called A bale lever, and the date 1755, to the repealing train with an anchor escapement used as regulator (see Ch. Allis and G. Brusa : Antiquarian Horology, June 1972, an off-print copy comes with the watch).
