Double body, Directoire with split-pearl set bezels, the back with a finely painted enamel scene within a rose-cut diamond set frame, featuring a messenger bringing a love letter to Moulin's Maria, after an episode of Sentimental journey through France and Italy extract from The Seasons by James Thomson. Outer white champleve enamelled urn and foliage decoration. D. White enamel with Arabic numerals and outer minute ring. Gold hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with conical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece. Diam. 52 mm.
