Val-de-Travers, Swiss, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1870. Fine and unusual silver watch with dead centre seconds, special escapement and mock pendulum.

C. Four body, "pommes et filets " with reeded band and engine-turned back. Hinged silver cuvette. D. White enamel small eccentric with Roman numerals and outer centre seconds ring on the bezel border, painted with a small traditional Neuchateloise clock with aperture on the base for the mock pendulum. M. 18 - gilt brass, Tixier calibre with free standing barrel, the bridges fully engraved with foliage decoration over a matted ground, Duplex- Jacot escapement allowing the dead centre seconds hand, the mock pendulum fitted on the arm of a rack, driven by a pinion on the balance staff. Diam. 52 mm.
