Attributable to Henry Capt, Geneva, circa 1810. Very fine and rare 18K gold and enamel, pearl and diamond-set harp with music.

C. A maiden, playing the guitar, finely painted on a small enamel panel (slightly restored) on the back of the instrument, outer champleve enamelled musical instruments, flowers, birds and further decoration against a black ground, the side panels with similar ornaments, small applied pearl-set decoration and a rose diamond set at the end of each rope. Musical movement: Gilt brass, concealed in the sound chest, playing at will with pin-barrel and five stacked tuned teeth. Dim. 74 x 34 mm.

At the period this harp was made, Francois Nicole, Henry Capt and Piguet Meylan were producing such types of musical objects of vertu in Geneva. The musical movement of this harp, with pin-barrel and tuned steel teeth is very much in the style of those produced by Henry Capt.
