Cugnier-Leschot, Swiss, 130932, circa 1820. Rare and unusual, 18K gold and enamel, quarter repeating automaton watch.
C. Three body Empire, with reeded band and polished back. Hinged gilt brass cuvette. D. White enamel eccentric chapter ring with Breguet numerals. Blued steel "scotties" hands. Varicoloured gold automaton scene on a balcony, applied on a azure champleve enamel ground. Driven by the repeating train, a Punchinello suddenly appears to strike hours and quarters on a bell. M. Gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-armed balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock and polished steel endpiece. Repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant. Signed on the cuvette. Diam. 57 mm.
