Notes

People tend to believe that the problem of counterfeiting on a large scale is related only to our times. However, that is not the case. The Swiss Federal Office was established at the end of the 19th century, in order to protect the "Great Brands" from non authorized watch replicas. In the archives of Longines, there is a document indicating that on 27 May 1889, Ernest Francillon, founder of the House, deposited his logo: a winged hourglass with the word "Longines" above. To celebrate the 130th anniversary of its foundation, Longines returned to its origins by launchting them the new "Golden Wings" collection.
