Stainless steel and gold plated, centre second gentleman's wristwatch with date, and black leather strap. The bezel is gold plated and the back of the case is in stainless steel. The dial is white with an illustration of the St. Basil church made on the request of "Yvan The Terrible " in "The Red Square " in Moscow. After the church was built, "Yvan The Terrible" ordered that the architect's eyes be put out. Applied gold round fancy indexes and outer painted radial Roman numerals and indexes. Mechanical movement with manual winding. Engraved on the back: "Isaac Stern 1999". On Jule 31, 1991, on the occasion of President George Bush's official visit to the Soviet Union, I was invited to play at the dinner offered by the President to Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the Russian aides at Spasso House (the name of the building of the American Embassy in Moscow) presented me with this Moskva watch as a memento of the visit. It was a memorable and touching moment which has remained with inc to this day. Diam. 35 mm. Est. ***

Isaac Stern Isaac Stern is recognized worldwide as one of the foremost violinists of this century. Throughout his more than fifty years as a professional musician, he has appeared on the world's most prestigious concert stages, guided the careers of countless young musicians and devoted himself to the advancement of the arts nationally and internationally. Mr. Stern, an exclusive Sony Classical (formerly CBS Masterworks) recording artist, has more than 100 recordings of over 200 works by 63 composers to his credit, and was named the label ' s first "Artist Laureate" in 1985. Additional career highlights for Mr. Stern include his work for feature films and television, notably the Academy Award-winning documentary "From Mao to Mozart: Isaac Stern in China"; the CBS broadcast of "Carnegie Hall: The Grand Reopening" which received an Emmy award in 1987; and "Isaac Stern-A Life " which was nominated for Best Classical Documentary at the 1993 MIDEM conference in France. An originating member of the National Endowment for the Arts, Mr. Stern is currently Chairman Emeritus of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and Chairman and founder of the Jerusalem Music Centre. As President of Carnegie Hall for more than 35 years, he spearheaded the drives to save the Hall from demolition in 1960 and to restore it in 1986. Isaac Stern was awarded in 1992 the United States ' highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and has also received high decorations from France, Japan, Israel and Denmark. Isaac Stern, born in Kr eminiecz, Russia, in 1920, came to America when he was 10 months old, started playing the violin at age 8 and had his recital debut at age 13. He plays a Guarnerius del Gesu violin.
