The Tiger Woods Foundation is actively working to fulfill Tiger Wood's vision of a world where people of varying backgrounds, histories, races, languages and ethnicity can all reach their highest potential and participate fully in the economic and social mainstream of society. The Foundation actively encourages and promotes adult responsibility and involvement in the lives of children. The Foundation works to achieve the objective in the following three ways: - Recognizing the family as the basic, most important unit in society and identifying the role of the parent as the most important teacher in the life of any child. - Conducting golf clinics and exhibitions across the U.S. for young people, historically denied access and exposure to the sport, while also promoting adult involvement in the lives of children. - Implementing and supporting programs that promote educational achievement in the lives of children. Woods' dedication to these objectives and values prompted his initial donation, which provided the necessary capital to establish the Foundation. As a result, Junior Golf Clinics and Exhibitions were held in Orlando, Dallas, New York, Chicago, Memphis and Miami during 1997. Over 12,000 junior golfers participated in the clinics and more than $120,000 has been donated to the National Minority Golf Foundation to be dispersed in the communities where the clinics were held.
