C. Four-body, ?forme quatre baguettes?, polished, hinged goldcuvette engraved with technical details. D. White enamel withradial Roman numerals and sunk subsidiary seconds at 12 o?clock,secret inscription "Laroyenne" above 6 o?clock. Gold ?spade? hands.M. Gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, the back plate relieved forthe barrel, fusee with chain and maintaining power, 25 jewels, lateral leverescapement with divided lifts and jeweled pallets, oil-retention slots in the steelescape wheel, plain three-arm balance, flat balance-spring with bimetallic compensationcurb on the index. Quarter-repeating on gongs with pull-twist piston throughthe pendant.Signed on the cuvette, pendant stamped with the French guarantee mark used between 1821 and 1838.Diam. 61 mm.

This watch is published in the Ruscitti book, as no. 50. Henri Robert (1795-1874) was inspired both by Breguet and Perrelet. He became a very eminent maker and author on horological subjects. In 1847 Robert was named Watchmaker to the Navy. The present lot was sold on April 2003 by Antiquorum Geneva lot 548.
