"The Muse of Dance and Music" Verger, France, the miniatures painted by F. Paillet, glass elements by Lalique, circa 1908. Exceptionally fine and rare frosted glass, platinum, rose diamond and painted on ivory lady's pendant watch with the original platinum, rose diamond and frosted glass chain.

Elongated octagonal frosted glass inset with platinum and rose diamond motifs, platinum and rose diamond outer border and fittedwith diamond-set platinum bezels fixed to the yellow gold frame, both with painted ivory plaques, the back with a muse (Terpsichore)and two putti, winding/setting crown at the base, diamond-set platinum ring for the chain. D. Ivory, painted off-white with three puttiand ribbon, delicate Arabic numerals. White gold Breguet hands. M. 18 mm. (8'''), rhodium-plated, "fausses côtes" decoration, 18jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring, index regulator.Signed by Verger on movement and movement frame, one miniature signed "P" for Paillet.Dim. 45 x 35 mm.Chain: Fancy platinum links interspersed by eight carved frosted glass beads, each with a rose diamond-set band, platinum and rosediamond-set screwed-down ring for suspending the watch.

Fernand Paillet (Niort 1840 - Paris 1918), A pupil of Carrier-Belleuse, he painted portraits on enamel and porcelain, as well as watercolors. He exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1873, and from 1879 to 1888 he worked in the Sèvres porcelain factory.
