Henry Capt, Geneve, No. 32586, especially made for Colonel d'Arnold, circa 1880. Very fine 18K pink gold and enamel heavy hunting cased watch in original rose-wood fitted box and accompanied by the original heavy gold chain.

C. Four body massive, the engine-turned cover and back with milled borders, the cover centred with the painted champleve enamelled crowned coat-of-arms of Colonel Count Arnold, the back with his enamelled monogram. Hinged gold glazed cuvette with milled bezel. D. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer minute and chronograph rings and sunk subsidiary seconds. Gold "Louis XV" hands. M. nickel plated, "Fausses cotes " decoration, 33 jewels, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Repeating on gongs with slide in the band, chronograph with visible work and push-piece in the band. Signed on the dial, case and movement. Diam. 53 mm.

Colonel d'Arnold, born in Altorf, Switzerland, on March 18, 1825, died on April 10, 1891. He was Warrant Officer under Colonel Schmidt at the battle of Gislikon in 1847 and served as Captain of the Urner Troops in 1856, ctnriug the Rhin's Campaign, Military Commander of the city of Geneva in 1864 and Colonel in 1868. He was also Member of the State Council in 1850 and Member of the National Council from 1865 to 1890. Member of the Province Council from 1858, he became President of the State Council in 1866 until 1870, and again from 1878 to 1880. He founded and supported from 1878 to 1884 the Urner Zeilnng, from 1884 to 1885, the Urner Volks/ieun and the Urner Blal[. He was also deputy to the Federal Council.
