French, circa 1810. "Le Remouleur" Very fine gilt bronze eight day going, hour and halfhour striking clock.

C. Rectangular base on four feet, the front freeze flanked by applied vases of flowers; the movement above, flanked by a small table and a stool, and topped by a charming Cupid grinding a knife. Engine-turned gilt brass bezel. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer minute ring. Gilt brass hands. M. Brass circular, mouvement de Paris type with going barrel both for the going and the striking trains, anchor escapement, short pendulum with silk suspension. Striking on a bell with count wheel on the back plate. Dim. 47 x 31 x 11 cm.
