French, circa 1810. "L'amour et la Fidelite" Fine ormolu eight day going, hour and half-hour striking clock.

Rectangular base with rounded ends, standing on six gilt bronze feet, the front and side panels decorated with friezes depicting cherubs playing in a field, the movement is fitted in the drapery hanging from a gilt bronze table, flanked by two fire pots and surmounted by a gilt bronze figure of Cupid, symbol of Love, walking with a patinated dog, symbol of Fidelity. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer minute ring. Gilt bronze hands. M. Brass circular mouvement de Paris with going barr els both for the going and the striking train, anchor escapement with short pendulum, silk suspension. Striking on a bell with count wheel on the back plate. Dim. 48 x 32 x 11 cm.
