French, circa 1850. Fine and unusual, gilt and patinated bronze eight day going, hour and half-hour striking automaton clock.

The movement is fitted in the rectangular, patinated bronze base, standing on four gilt bronze dolphin feet and applied with gilt bronze acanthus foliage decoration, the bezel with scalloped decoration. Gilt and patinated automaton scene at the top with an automaton vessel (later). D. Silvered engine-turned with Roman numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Brass circular, mouvement de Paris type with going barrel both for the going and the striking trains, anchor escapement, short pendulum with silk suspension. Striking on a bell with count wheel on the back plate. Independent train with going barrel and fly regulator, driving the movements of the automaton vessel by means of cams and levers. Dim, 43 x 25 x 13 cm.
