Favre Leuba & Co., Bombay, No. 27783, Swiss, made for the Indian Market, circa 1880. Very fine 18K gold and enamel, half skeletonised hunting cased, keyless minute repeating watch with dead independent seconds.
C. Four body, massive, "bassine et filets", engineturned with reeded band, the back enamelled with the painted portrait of the first owner. Hinged gold cuvette with engine-turned border. D. Crystal with gilt Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds. Blued steel " fleurs-de-lys" hands. M. Glazed 19-, nickel plated with "fausses cotes" decoration, double train with differential winding, 44 jewels, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Repeating on gongs with slide in the band. Independent seconds train with flirt on the escape wheel pinion and bolt in the band. Signed on dial and cuvette. Diam. 54 mm.
