Almost certainly produced in Geneva, circa 1820. Very fine and rare 18K gold and enamel, diamond, pearl and gem-set pendant watch with visible balance which can be worn either suspended from a chain, from a matching brooch or fitted on a matching bangle.

C. Two piece rectangular with canted corners and split-pearl set bezel. Blue enamel split-pearl and ruby set brooch, centred with an opal cabochon and matching bangle decorated en suite. D. Small white enamel with Breguet numerals. Blued steel hands. Matted gold dial plate with blue champleve enamel borders, a white enamelled floret below the dial and a balance aperture on the upper part. M. Rectangular inverted brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, raised going barrel, cylinder escapement, rose-cut diamond set balance with flat balance spring. Dim. of the watch: 29 x 18 mm.

Convertible jewels were much in fashion during the first part of the 19th century. Several small pendant watches could be fitted on matching bracelets or matching rings, and even suspended from brooches; the eminent Breguet, himself produced in the 1830's very small watches conslooles seer le pr ncipe des gauzes-tena This panne is certainly among the most complete, produced at the period.
