Swiss, made for the Oriental Market, circa 1830. Fine and almost certainly unique 18K gold and enamel wristwatch in original fitted box.

C. Double body with scalloped edge, fully enamelled with white champleve enamelled famed red, green and yellow flinque enamelled decoration in an Oriental pattern, the lid and the integrate bracelet composed by seven hinged elements, decorated en suite. D. Silver engine-turned with Roman numerals on a polished chapter ring. Blued-steel Breguet hands. M. hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece. Diam. 45 mm.

Notes

As opposed to most wristwatches made at the time, which were in fact bracelets fitted with a pendant watch in a special compartment, this watch is integrated to the bracelet and therefore can be considered as a true wristwatch and one of the earliest ever made.
