Jn. Curtis, London, No. 4033 made for the Dutch Market, with London hallmarks for 1778. Very fine 22K gold triple cased repousse watch.
C. Gilt-brass sharkskin covered protecting case. Outer gold double body, the bezel repousse with floral and rocaille decoration, the back repousse in high relief with a mythological scene, the border repousse with decoration matching that of the bezel. Inner "bassine " , polished. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minutes ring with arched divisions. Blued-steel "poker and beetle " hands. M. Hinged gilt-brass full plate with elaborated pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel threearm balance, flat balance spring, gilt-brass Dutch style cock pierced and engraved with foliage decoration. Signed on the back plate. Diam. 54 mm.
