Dom. Vella, Panormi, circa 1750. Very fine and unusual hour striking coach-watch with alarm and eccentric dial.
C. Double body Louis XV, bezel and back pierced and chased with foliage and rocaille decoration. D. Silver eccentric with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minutes ring with arched divisions and fully engraved with scrolled foliage, inner small silver alarm setting disc. Blued-steel "tulip" hands. M. Ilinged gilt-brass full plate with Egyptian pillars, fusee with chain (now replaced by a gut line), verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring with rack and pinion regulator with silver disc, gilt-brass English style cock pierced and engraved with foliage. Alarm and striking trains with gilt-brass fixed barrels, count wheel on the back plate, engraved with flowers, striking on a bell signed G. Beara. Signed on the back plate. Diam. 113 mm.
