Ilbery, London, No. 2491, Swiss, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1830. Very fine 18K gold and enamel centre-seconds watch with special escapement.
C. Two-body, the bezels decorated with formal motifs in red and green champleve enamel, the back centred with a line polychrome enamelled composition of summer flowers over an azure ground, outer foliage and floral decoration against a pink ground. Hinged gold glazed cuvette. D. White enamel, Roman hour numerals, minutes and seconds divisions. Blued-steel pierced hands. M. Entirely engraved, gilt Chinese calibre with free-standing barrel, English single wheel duplex escapement, steel and brass three arm balance with blued-steel weights, flat balance spring with regulator. Signed on the movement. Diam. 56mm.
