Watcher, Fleurier, No. 2999, Swiss, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1840. Fine 18K gold and enamel, centre-seconds watch with special escapement.

Double body with fixed bezel, the back panel decorated with a champleve enamel painted floral decoration on a black ground, as an imitation of cloisonne work, bezels pendant and bow with champleve enamelled foliage decoration over a pink ground. Hinged glazed gilt-brass cuvette. D. White enamel dial with Roman numerals. Blued-steel "spade" hands. M. Polished steel, Chinese calibre with free standing barrel, drawn from that of Lepine, single wheel duplex escapement, plain steel five-arm balance, flat balance spring and regulator. Signed on the movement. Diam. 54 mm.
