Swiss, No. 62-1876, probably produced in 1876. Fine and very unusual silver dual-time centre-seconds watch with decorated dial and double movement.

C. Three body, massive, "potnme et filets " , polished. Hinged silver cuvette with engine-turned border. D. White enamel with centre-seconds and two small subsidiary dials with Roman numerals, showing the time for two time zones and decorated with four small rosettes, foliage, a figure of Jeanne d'Arc and a basket of flowers. Blued-steel "spade" hands. M. 24"', gilt brass, bar calibre with two complete grains with going barrels, 25 jewels, the first one, driving centreseconds, with cylinder escapement, plain gold threearm balance, flat balance spring with regulator, the second one with counterpoised straight line lever escapement, plain gold three arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. Diam. 60 mm.

Very rare and unusual economical application of Breguet's research on resonance mutual adjustments. Breguet was the first to discover the phenomenon of resonance and its applications. He made two long case regulators and some watches fitted with two complete movements in the same case and showed that the balances, regulated by the resonance phenomenon are brought to oscillate step to step. This watch, fined with two movements, regulated by two complete escapements, is a popular attempt to demonstrate the ability of the phenomenon of resonance to bring the two balances to oscillate step to step in spite of the different technology of the two escapements. This watch can also be used as a travelling watch, showing the time hi two different time zones.
