A*C, Paris, circa 1920. Fine and unusual mystery clock based on the principle invented by Robert Houdin.
C. Moulded mahogany base with rounded corners and gilt-brass top, the short fluted column supporting the gilt-brass framed rectangular crystal dial with arched top. D. Entirely transparent with painted Arabic numerals and outer minutes ring. Counterpoised gilt-brass pierced and engraved hands. M. Gilt brass rectangular, concealed on the base, with going barrel, platform lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. The hands driven by the movement through the short column. Dim. 35 x 20 x 12 cm.
