Printed and coloured paper covered cylinder, the olding gnomon in rose wood turned cap, the compass in the screwed base disclosing the compartment for a small wooden telescope. Signed on the printed paper. 145 mm. high.

Notes

Known in France as "Cadrans de Bergers", such sundials were used by the shepherds in thel8th century. A much later edition of such dials were procluced by Henri Robert towards the middle of the 19th century, to be presented to his best clients.
