Ja. Upjohn, London, No. 329, made for the Dutch Market circa 1770. Very fine 22K gold triple-cased repousse quarter repeating watch.
C. Gilt-brass sharkskin covered protecting case. Outer gold double body, signed "W.G." , the bezel pierced and engraved with foliage and repousse with rocaille decoration, the back repousse in high relief with a scene showing the Reconciliation between Jacob and Isail (Moses I-31, 44) the border pierced and repousse with decoration matching that of the bezel. Inner "bassine ", the back centred with an engraved rosette, the band engraved with a mask and a small landscape and pierced with foliage. D. Ii1 Vhite enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minutes ring. Gold Louis XV hands. M. Hinged gilt-brass full plate with conical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt-brass English style cock pierced and engraved with a bird and foliage. Repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. Signed on the back plate, the repousse work signed below the scene. Diam. 60 mm.
