Vienna, circa 1840. Fine and unusual ebonised pear-wood Grande and Petite Sonnerie striking and quarter repeating travelling clock with special escapement and alarm.

C. Square with bevelled edges, gilt-bronze handle and engine-turned bezel. D. Gilt-brass engine-turned with Roman numerals. Blued-steel "half-moon" hands. M. Brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fixed barrels with revolving arbors, virgule escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. Independent trains for alarm, quarters and hours with bolt beneath the bezel, all striking on gongs and released for repetition by means of a button on the pendant. Dim. 152 x 150 mm. excluding the pendant and the bow.
