David Francois, dit Busset) D.F.D.B., Swiss, circa 1780. Very fine and rare Neuchateloise quarter striking and repeating bracket clock.

Shaped ebonised veneered with inlaid engraved ivory marine creatures and divinities, glazed door applied with gilt-bronze trophies of gardening, gilt frame to the door and dial, pierced gilt-bronze feet of strapwork with entwined foliage, gilt-metal shoulder decoration and beading of scrolled leaf-forms and pine cone finials. Pediment surmounted by a giltbronze urn and matching bracket. D. White enamel with roman numerals and outer Arabic minutes ring. Gilt-brass pierced and engraved Louis XV hands. M. Brass, rectangular plated, two train, going barrels to both trains, Neuchateloise striking work within the back plate, external locking plate, verge escapement, flat bob pendulum with silk thread suspension, pull repeating and striking on two bells Initials punched on the back plate. Dim. 115 x 38 x 20 cm., with the bracket.
