Le Coeur L'aine a Paris, circa 1793. Very fine and rare small white marble and o rmolu, eight day going, decimal and duo-decimal clock with republican calendar and decades.

C. In form of a pyramid, a gilt-brass ball at the top, set on four paws and with applied gilt-bronze decoration of pearls, foliage, ribbon knots and musical instruments. The rectangular base with four gilt bronze bun-feet, applied with wreath of laurel. D. White enamel with Roman numerals for the 10 decimal hours, inner calendar ring with the three decades, outer decimal minute indication, Breguet duo-decimal hour on 24 hours, and minutes rings on the bezel's border. Gilt-brass interlaced chased hands. M. Gilt-brass full plate with going barrel, anchor escapement, short pendulum with silk suspension. Signed on the dial. Dim. 36 x 19 x 10 cm.

Decimal clocks are very rare, even more so with indication of decimal minutes and Republican calendar with the decades. Certainly specially commissioned to be set on a "secrC( ire", since no other small decimal clock of this type is known to exist.
